"Do you feel lucky punk?"

Upcoming Schedule of Events:

Looking for hosts for February and March.  Could be you!

Welcome to Pizza Cutter's Poker

1)     General comments and ideology:

          a)     The following rules are for the monthly First Friday invitational hold’em tournaments.  These events are “beginner friendly” so strict rules are not required, but the League Board of Directors felt certain rules that continue to be discussed, reviewed, and questioned should be clarified.

          b)     Cost containment clause.  Events are for entertainment and educational purpose only.  A predetermined “buy-in” will be set prior to each event:

i)        This ensures a friendly and educational atmosphere.

ii)      This ensures that participants are informed and limit their loss at any given event.

iii)    Movie & Popcorn benchmark:  The tournament “buy-in” amount will be set to correlate to the cost of a movie ticket and popcorn.

c)     All events are BYO edibles & beverages.

 i)        The host is responsible to provide the following:

 (1)   Room.

 (2)   Table and chairs (assistance is available).

 (3)   Heat in the wintertime and AC in the summertime.

ii)      At the discretion of the Provisioning Chairmen (PC) $5 pizza may be available.  This special price is offered to support the Movie & Popcorn benchmark.

iii)    Food donations are always welcome.

d)     Stone Coyote organizational structure will consist of a League Board of Directors (LBD) and a single Tournament Director (TD):

i)        LBD members are responsible for adoption and updates to this rule set.

ii)      LBD members will be elected by the current LBD and the TD.

iii)    The TD is responsible for onsite tournament organization and rule disputes.

iv)   The TD is appointed by dictatorial rule.

 v)     The TD may appoint a temporary TD to manage those events they cannot attend.

 e)     These are invitational events and not open to the general public.  Additional invitees may be approved by the monthly host or the TD.

 f)       Events will be held the first Friday of every month unless altered by the TD and approved by the LBD.

2)     Structure

a)     A random draw will determine starting table and position.

b)     Two tables will be used if more then 11 players are present.   Three tables if more then 20.   Events will be capped at 25 people.

c)      To balance tables the player due for the big blind at the most populated table will be moved to the short table in the first open seat to the left of the small blind.

d)     When there are 9 players left, we will collapse to the final table.  (If three tables, merge at 17 to 2 by random draw of cards.)

e)     Initial tournament chip counts:

i)        Each player will begin with a value of 750 chips for single table tournaments, 1000 for multi table tournaments.

3)     Rules

(The following rules are based on the book The Official Rules of Poker and World Series of Poker Rules)

a)     A card will be burned before the flop, the fourth card, and the river.  If a single card is miss dealt or exposed by the dealer it will be used as the burn card.

b)     Betting

i)        Blinds start with 2 players to the left of the button.  Minimum bet is equal to big blind or largest previous bet of that round of betting.

ii)      Betting before the flop starts to the left of the big blind to call, raise or fold.  Betting after the flop through the end of betting begins to left of the dealer.

iii)    No limit to amount of raise.

iv)    No limit to number of raises (can’t raise own bet).

v)      Minimum raise is equal to big blind or largest prior raise for that round of betting.  All raises below minimum bet must be brought up to minimum raise.  This does not apply to a player that has unintentionally put too much in to call.

vi)    An all in bet after a raise that is over the previous bet but under the minimum raise requirement does not re-open raising to the original bettor.

vii)  If there is a discrepancy between the verbal raise and the chips placed in the pot, the verbal raise is binding.

viii) If a bet is made with a single large denomination chip that is larger then the prior bet, this will be treated as a call unless the player declares raise.   Players are encouraged to announce when they are raising.

ix)    You cannot call and raise.  Using the word “call” will prohibit you from following that with a raise.

x)      String raising is not allowed.  A player must verbally declare a raise amount or push the raise amount into the pot in a single move.

xi)    Blind raises prior to the deal are allowed from any position.  (This a SC special rule and not found in standard rule sets.)

c)      In the event that a player has less chips then the current blind they will be allowed to continue to play.  Their only bet allowed is “all in” and will create a side pot with matching funds from the other players in the pot, this side pot is all that player may win.

d)     Showdown:

i)        A player must show their cards in a showdown to win a pot.

ii)      The best 5 cards will be used.  You do not have to use any card from your hand.

iii)    Cards speak.   A verbal declaration of a hand at the showdown is not binding if a higher hand may be made using the player’s cards.

iv)    A player that has been dealt into the showdown may request to see any hand that has been called even if that opponent’s hand has been mucked.  (This rule should not be abused)

e)     Show one, show all.  If you show your cards to any other player, all other players have a right to see your cards.  Players involved in the hand will have to wait until the hand is over to view these cards.  You should never show your cards to a player still actively involved in a hand.

f)        Buttons:

i)        Dead button rule (ghost hands) is enforced.  The big blind is posted for the player due for it and the small blind and button are placed accordingly even if they are placed in front of a vacant seat,

ii)      In heads up play the small blind is on the button.

g)     Misdeal is called if any of the following occur:

i)        Two or more cards are exposed by the dealer. (First exposed card is used as burn card.  This card must be shown to all players.)

ii)      The button was out of position or distribution of cards was done out of order.

h)      If a player acts out of turn, that action will be binding if the action does not change prior to that player’s turn to act.

i)        If a player is not present at the start of a hand his cards may be mucked by the dealer.

j)        All disputes will be resolved by the Tournament Director.

k)      The following actions are improper and considered poor poker etiquette:

(1)   Deliberately acting out of turn.

(2)   Deliberately splashing the pot, causing your chips to be mixed with the community chips.

(3)   Agreeing to check a hand when a third player is all in.

(4)   Needlessly stalling the action of a game.

(5)   Hiding cards from view.  Players must keep their cards in full view.

4)     Payouts
